Bernadette: Though mortified at first with him just jumping over the side of the balcony and landing on a ghost that he coughed up, she was far to excited to be overly concerned with anything that just happened. She couldn't count how many times she'd dreamt of floating over the town!
She took his hand and hopped onto the ghost before trembling and latching onto his side. Oh, sure, now she was scared, now that she was already on top of the weird ghost cloud. "I-I-Is this s-safe???"

Haar: He blinked at her. "Probably!!" Good thing her mother-figure thing was a healer!! Nonono, he was kidding. It was perfectly safe. He eased her down to a sitting position, and the ghost beneath them murmured a faint, "MeeeEEEeeeehhh!" And the duo started to float slowly. Haar sat next to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "Haha, don't worry! It's like a giant ghost hug! Hmm... See, here!" He laughed as a ghostly hand appeared to "hug" her. The ghost was almost shaped as a roller coaster seat, with it's hands holding it's passengers as a rail would! Gradually, it picked up speed and, while from the ground did ALMOST KIND OF resemble SOMETHING LIKE a cloud, they could see through it on their end!
Haar laughed, "Tell me, what purpose do all of these trees have?? They cover so much land!"

Bernadette: Though at first very alarmed by the thought (and feeling) of a 'ghost hug,' she realized that they were actually pretty nicely restrained in their seats! This actually was surprisingly safe!
She looked down in awe of everything flying by. Did he just ask what function trees had?
"..Well... We use a lot of trees in woodworking... And also they provide oxygen. Plus, many Thanksgiving residents enjoy forests." She wasn't sure how else to answer that question. "Do you not have trees in Halloweentown?" She was sure they did!

Haar: He stretched out his hands. "Ah yes, you breathe that, correct? Ahhh yes." He nodded as if that was in any way a valid question anyone should ever actually ask. It wasn't.
"Do you spend a lot of time jumping in the dead tree carcasses? I imagine someone like yourself would!" SHE OBVIOUSLY LOVED SOMMMEEE SORT OF CARCASS.
He laughed and shrugged. "Yes yes, we have trees! No leaves however, I'm afraid. They're just as dead as most of the residents, really. T'is a shame! They're so lovely when they are alive." He tilted his head sleepily. "This whole very town is so much alive. It's a nice change, quite honestly."

Bernadette: "Yes... you... breathe that...." Who was this guy and had he lived under a rock his entire life? How was he a TEACHER? Did the Pumpkin King just send any old person in to the Academy? And Uncle CAIN! Did he just let anyone work there? She couldn't IMAGINE how the Halloween classes were normally run. "Uh," she wasn't actually sure how to answer the next question. Someone like herself?? What did that mean??? She didn't dare ask. "Not really?" "Oh, that is a shame," she said quietly. What was it like to live in a place where everything was dead? "Oh, look!" she cried, pointing to a flock of black birds flying toward them. "And down there!" They were over the town now, the few villagers still out looked like specks in the twilit square. Caught up in the moment, she leaned over the side of their ghost... cloud... thing... ever so slightly so she could see better. "Isn't this amazing?? Thank you so much for taking me up here, Uncle Haar!"

Haar: He nodded slowly. It was a shame, yes, but it was simply their way of life, and it wasn't going to change anytime soon!
The ghost under them murmured a lazy "MmmMMMeeeeeEEEEhhhhhh!" and dodged the murder of crows, barely. The crows easily moved out of the way and landed on the closest farmland, ready to start their next job. One, however, stayed back, perched on a tree, and watched Haar and Bernadette carefully.
The duo went a little lower to get a better glimpse of the town! Haar looked over as well, not as carefully as Bernadette, and grinned. "I'm happy you find it fun, hahaha!!" With one last longing look at the town, he called back to her, "Hold on, it's about time we go back!!"
He flicked his hand in an upward motion, and with one more pathetic ghost "Meh" their "coaster" stopped, and slowly turned upside down, still holding it's passengers tight, and made a loop-around. After another hand flick, it flipped right-side-up rather quickly and started to go back the way they came.
"My apologies about that, Bear Niece!!" He placed a hand on her shoulder. "The rest of the ride won't be as bumpy, I assure you!!"
Meanwhile, in the distance, the single crow could be heard cawing.

Bernadette: Though startled at first, Haar's hand did provide some comfort. She glance back at the clock tower in town. Yes, it had been about forty minutes since they were told it would be thirty. Oops!
The crow sounded familiar to her for some reason. Maybe it had been around before!
When they got back to the rooftop, Bernadette bounded down on the roof and reached out to take Haar's hand again. "Again, thank you so much for the ride, Uncle! We better get down there for dinner, but maybe sometime I can..." she swallowed hard. "Visit your castle!" In all truth she was terrified of spiders and Halloween, but she figured if Haar was there he PROBABLY wouldn't let her get eaten by anything. She considered herself a reasonable person, even if she wasn't really.

Haar: He grinned at her. "You're welcome anytime!!" Ah yes. Company. That would be weird, haha!!!
The ghost let out a few more "Meh mehhhh meeehhh"s and started to shrivel. Haar pointed his head upwards, and ghost, now much smaller, flew down his throat. The cleared his throat and let out a weak laugh, "It'll be...nice to have something better to eat, for a change!!" Hopefully she'd find SOME humor in that. Hopefully!!!
"It must be getting late!!" He looked down at Bernadette. "Would you rather go back the way we came or fly down to the front door? Your choice, my niece!!"

Bernadette: Oh. It actually would have been smart to fly down to the front door, now that she thought about it. She nodded.
"If it's okay... can we fly down?" she asked hesitantly.

Haar: "It would be no problem!!!" He laughed as he picked her up. "Hold on, now!!"
Holding her tight, he stepped up onto the balcony railing. "It won't be a trick this time, I assure you!!! But have no worry!~" He smiled at her as they both plunged this time, quickly at first but slowing down as they came closer to the ground. Gracefully, one of Haar's boots touched the ground, and soon the other did as well. He shook Bernadette just enough to get her attention. "Is everything all right, niece!? I suppose that WAS quite fast!!"

Bernadette: Though she had clung onto him for dear life, she was by most accounts, fine. She, trembling, let go of him and felt him lower her to the ground safely. "I'm... I'm..." She paused for a minute, wobbling slightly. "That.. that was AMAZING!" she cried, looking up at him excitedly. "SERIOUSLY, I wish I could do that!!" She shook herself out of her reverie and spun so she could see the door. "Anyway!! I'm certain dinner's ready!!"
She hopped up the stairs and turned back to Haar, grinning as she opened the door and trotted inside. In the kitchen, she climbed up on her footstool to wash her hands. The timer had been going off for a few minutes now, she could only assume. Where was Miss Prudence? And Cain? She ended up washing her hands a couple times and forcing herself to dry them so she could get dinner out of the oven. She was sure it would be fine...
She opened the door and put on her bear paw oven mitts to take the savory pie out of the oven. It was fine, as she thought, but it was still odd that no one else had been in here. Bernadette heaved it up over the oven and kicked the door closed with her boot before scurrying over to the sink to wash her hands three more times to make it five. It was an odd number, but it also felt even, somehow. She turned to Haar on her fourth wash and said, "Uncle Haar? Could you see if they're out back? It's weird that they're not in here."
Outside, by the nearest fence to the back porch, Cain and Prudence were pulling large quilts off the lines and folding them before putting them into baskets.

Haar: "I...Oh!" Standing tall, her brought his hands back to his body. He was actually quite shocked she enjoyed that! Maybe she actually SHOULD pay him a visit!! He followed her up the steps and down to the kitchen. He looked for Cain and Rufus' kind-of-wife, and lowered an eyebrow. Perhaps Cain had taken her to another leaf funeral? He only hoped the beautiful trees could replace them fast enough...
He stood awkwardly and watched Bear Niece wash her hands...several times? What, had she messed up the first four?? How would one even DO THAT? He considered washing his OWN hands, but feared she would just...never stop...?
He looked away from her hands and she talked, pretending to examine some utensils behind him. "Oh, why of course!!" Was she too worried that Cain was busy ripping leaves from branches? Haar slowly made his way to where he assumes was "out back," looking at every decoration on the way. Upon reaching a half open door, he looked outside to see the two doing laundry.
He approached them, kind of wary of the large blankets. As he watched them pull the quilts from the line, he suddenly forgot what he was actually supposed to talk to them about. Instead, he stood, almost in a daze. The smell of fresh linen, or maybe even cotton, was...oddly familiar, and it was quite relaxing.

Cain: He turned around, half-folded quilt in his hands, to look over at Haar. "Oh! Many apologies! We lost track of time. Is dinner finished?" Prudence turned too before dropping the basket on the grass and putting her hands on her cheeks. "Oh my goodness! Is it bu--" She stopped mid-sentence when she looked through the window to see the top of Bernadette's head at the sink. Surely she got it out of the oven already! She breathed a sigh of relief.
"Phew! Well, we're almost done out here," she said, turning back to another quilt. She gingerly took this one in particular off the line. It was extremely ornate and involved a big harvest moon and likely thousands of instances of wheat stitched in. She'd spent nearly a year on that one, and Rufus was quite fond of it. "Is there something you needed, Mr. Grimm?"

Haar: He blinked a few times at Cain. WAS dinner finished? He suddenly grew so tired. He turned to see the top of Bear Niece's head before looking back at Prudence and nodding. Yes, Bear Niece was in the kitchen. No, he didn't kill Bear Niece, she was fine. He still kind of hoped Bernadette would be so kind as to keep that incident between them, though!
He blankly stared at Prudence before realizing he created quite a bit of awkward silence. "oOh! Ah...I have no idea! Er..." He puffed up his chest proudly, "Oh no, I don't need anything, thank you!!" He started back for the kitchen, dignified. Well my, I am QUITE out of it, today...

Bernadette had finished washing her hands for the tenth time and setting the table, food in the center of it on top of pot holders as to not scorch the tablecloth. Everything was perfectly straight! The shepherd's pie sat at the head of the table near where the head of the household sat (in this case, Rufus, who would likely not be showing up for dinner, Bernadette had decided with a sigh) and Bernadette had pulled out some steaks to re-heat in the oven. Something told her that Haar wouldn't like vegetables much. Likely because he still acted partially like someone younger than her (and also because Cain didn't like them much himself, though he would eat them).
Prudence and Cain followed Haar into the kitchen and by the time Prudence had floated over to the table, Cain clapped Haar on the back gently. "Well then, my brother, are we ready to partake of this Thanksgiving feast that our friends have so kindly allowed us to intrude upon?"
Prudence, from the table, piped up at that point with, "Cain, if I so much as hear the word 'intrude' come from your mouth in one more instance, I will be very upset." Cain knew she was trying to look threatening, but mostly her cheeks just puffed up, making her look even younger than Rufus than she already did.
"I was just thanking you!"
"Yes, well. You're welcome. Now, come sit! You too, Bernadette!" Bernadette was peering into the oven. She only had about a minute left before the table could have another dish and be less.... grossly lop-sided. "Yes, Miss Prudence! One moment, please!!" She pressed her hands and nose on the glass, willing the steaks to get warmer faster.
