Alice: She sleepily put thumbed the tip of her coffee cup. Her head was resting gently on her hand while she looked over papers in her classroom. She shuffled her papers again in an attempt to wake herself up, and let out a sigh. She hadn't even begun to teach yet and was already so tired. Plus, it didn't help that every few minutes she had to go open the window and shoo away MORE BIRDS. She looked back down at her desk; she had been reading the files of the two students she was expected to have. She had read Ms. Brookhaven's start to finish a few times, and had to admit, it was a nice read!! She'd be proud to teach a student who could successfully keep up her own business! She had just began looking over Mr. Wayna's when she was interrupted by a knocking of her classroom door. She looked up, quite curious to see who could be visiting before classes start. A smile flashed across her face.
"Do come in, please!"

Wayna: After finally finding his way to the Thanksgiving area of campus, he instantly felt more at ease, and almost at home. His dorm room was small and tidy and new and all to himself. Being as there were only two students enrolled from Thanksgiving thus far, he expected it to be quiet and appreciated that. (Although he had been debating whether or not to join a fraternity, he'd hit that issue when he got there).
Seeing as there really wasn't much else to do, he fixed his belongings and headed towards the academic building. Nothing like an early start - Wayna hated wasting time on nonsense things. Like sleeping.
He could tell that the knock at the door may have thrown the professor off a bit, but he was determined to make a good first impression. He opened the door slowly and smiled at the woman who really only seemed a few years older than himself. But the entire air of the room felt a bit off as soon as he stepped through the door.
Taking a deep breath, he introduced himself. "Hello, Ms. Ackerman, is it? My name is Wayna."

Alice: She put down her papers and clasped her hands together on her desk. She motioned for him to take a seat across from her. "Salutations, Mr. Wayna, it's nice to meet you. What can I do for you today?"
She was careful to tuck his file under other papers on her desk. Her hands were clasped over the pile. She flicked her head just enough for strands to move away from her eyes, and smiled at him, awaiting a reply.

Wayna: He looked around the classroom and nodded, smiling to himself.
"Just scoping out the place, actually. I already fully investigated the dorm area, so I decided to come to the classrooms as well..." Wayna saw her shuffling some papers around and hoped he hadn't interrupted her from her work. He knew being a teacher was hard, and quite frankly impossible for himself.
't set down his walking staff against the window and jumped slightly. That's when he noticed a small crow on the ledge peering at him. It startled him at first, but then he just kind of pointed to it. "Does this happen frequently with the wild life around here?"

Alice: She nodded at him, and turned her attention back to organizing her desk. She started to move her pencils and quills so that everything was perfectly perpendicular. She also took care to move her inkwell approximately a third of an inch to the right. She examined her work for a second before looking over to Wayna. "Ah yes, I'm afraid they come in search of food." She shook her head left and right and let out a sigh, "How they ever found their way out of Thanksgiving Town is a mystery to me."

Wayna: "So where the university didn't used to be their home then? Before it existed, I mean." He reached out a hand to the bird and it just rudely squawked at him before flying away. He chuckled and rested his hand on his cheek.
He looked her up and down, in a way she might have found more than creepy if she happened to look up. Brows furrowed, Wayna studied the overall aura of the room and came to the conclusion that, yes, the strange feeling he got while entering the room was coming from her. From not from her soul, rather one that was just sticking close to her. As if bound to her.
"You aren't very talkative, Ms. Ackerman?" He asked softly, almost inaudible.

Alice: She rested her head on her hand with grace. The second Wayna turned to look at the bird, she flipped open his file in a swift movement. Something was very, very off about him. She pretended not to notice his glance while she read what she could-which was just enough, she figured!! He was the shaman of his tribe, a former teacher. She couldn't help to raise an eyebrow. Looks like they had a lot more in common that she had originally thought. Still, she would have to keep her guard, she assumed. She closed the file swiftly and rose from her chair silently. She leaned against her desk and appeared to be looking out the window, but payed close attention to Wayna in the corner of her eye. "I usually only speak when I have something to say, Mr. Wayna!" She gave him a warm smile. "Forgive me if I come off as rude, I had a few things to attend to! But while you're here, take a seat, please! Would you like some tea?" She pulled her lip back. She could tell he knew something was off about her. Fantastic. Still, she supposed, hospitality was a necessity! She shrugged her shoulders. "I've read quite a lot that tea does wonders for your health!"

Wayna: Wayna snapped out of his gaze when she stood, grinning. "Don't apologize, it was rude of me to ask." He decided to stop connecting with the spirits that filled practically the whole room for a little bit and rubbed his temples in a dull frustration. He mumbled for them to leave him alone for now. He'd talk with them later.
He nodded, sighing heavily, and sat back in his chair. "Yes, tea would be lovely, actually. I've been absolutely in love with all kinds of herbal teas for the past few years, not exactly positive if they have made a gigantic boost on my health, but it's still nice to think so."

Alice: "Yes, sadly it does tend to be a subtle change, but I usually notice a difference eventually." She went to the corner of her room, which was furnished a single burner stove and kettle. Thankfully, it was common for thanksgiving rooms to have small kitchens, usually equipped with utensils and food!! As she prepared two cups and bags, she looked back at Wayna. "While you're here, why don't you tell me about yourself, Mr. Wayna? I have very few students this semester, so I intend on learning about them to the best of my ability!" She gave him a warm smile, "For starters, you have some very interesting tattoos there!"

Wayna: He laughs briefly, but his smile stays wide. "They're nothing really, just tribal tradition." He looks down at his arm and shrugged. "Every person has one of these - if you meet my sister Raven, she has it, as well. It's just a universal symbol that represents our tribe nothing that fancy."
He sighs quietly, a little embarrassed, but continues. "My face make up, in a way, is warrior paint, but it symbolizes a veteran. I become dreadfully sick a few years back, and it prevents me from doing anything majorly physical. Which is, quite honestly, all the men in our village do. Hunt, play sports, dance..." He rubs the back of his neck and shakes his head, closing his eyes. "So, I was chosen to become the tribes new Spiritual Leader because I was basically useless for anything else."
Laughing, he waves a hand dismissively, "And these on my chest are basically just a way of saying I am single. When I become engaged and later betrothed, I'll add more to them."

Alice: Waiting for the teabags to steep, she smiled and nodded. "That's very interesting! I would have never guessed! Is veteran paint a daily process, then? And also, are you the one doing the tattooing? To tattoo one's self must be quite a chore!" Seriously, MAKE UP takes forever but a tattoo?? Major props! She placed two tea cups on saucers and carried them over, careful not to spill. She put one in front of Wayna and sat back down, holding her cup in one hand and the saucer in the other. "What exactly does a Spiritual Leader entail? Certainty no job is useless, or it would never be a job in the first place." She took a sip and smiled. "When I am feeling quite under the weather, this is the blend I usually brew. But nonetheless, I'm sure the role of a Shaman is quite beneficial to the tribe." And probably not so much to me... Still, she had to be sure to stay on his good side. "Your people look to you for guidance, I'd assume? A leader of any sort is a valuable position!" She actually had to hand it to him, the role of a humble Shaman sounded like quite the change from a headstrong warrior. Good for him, humility is a virtue!! It's a shame it had to be achieved in such a way. She put her cup down and clasped her hands on the table. Wouldn't want those papers to fly loose, she supposed!!

Wayna: He bowed his head and thanked her gently, keeping the cup and saucer on the table in front of them. He waited patiently for it to cool off, peering into the tea and watching it swirl around and steep. "Yes, it's a daily thing. I don't do my own tattoos, no. It's a father-son tradition. He does them for me."
He leaned back against his seat, coughing quietly and excusing himself for being so rude. He couldn't help it, really. "If ones father has passed away, usually the tribe leader, Shaman, or a very close, older male relative does it."
He was surprised at how much she actually wanted to know - yet again, she was a teacher and probably yearned for as much knowledge as possible, much like himself. "As a spiritual leader I tend to the sick and wed people and... But yes, I pretty much act as the tribe's consoler." He laughs and shrugs. "I tend to run and hold ceremonies as well." He takes his tea and sips it slowly. "So I will go back and forth to the village a lot in-between classes."
He smiles down at his tea. His favorite part of drinking tea was always reading the shapes and remains when he was done.

Alice: "Is it?" She took a sip of it while it was still steaming and placed the cup back on it's saucer. "That's lovely." She gave him a small smile while he coughed, "Are you ill, Mr. Wayna?" She knew the answer, of course, but was curious to hear how he answered. She ran a thumb around the opening of her cup while she was listening. "That's very respectable! That sounds like quite a lot on your platter!" She looked down at his file and back up at him, genuinely sad for him, and leaned forward, just a tad. "I know everyone had their own reasons for seeking an education but.. for someone like yourself to pursue one does make me curious. I applaud you, please know, despite that reason! It's very hard to learn and rend to your responsibilities at the same time." Her eye cast down a feather at her feet, and she swiftly pushed it under her desk. "So very hard. What do you see in you tea, by the way?"
She laughed and swirled her cup a few times. "I'd be more than happy to show you how I read mine!" She dumped the remaining few leaves in her saucer and held it upside down for a moment before removing it. She placed her saucer on her desk between them. "I tend to look towards the top and read clockwise around." Her finger followed the circle before stopping near '6'oclock.' She laughed, "It almost looks like a hand reaching for something, doesn't it! Would you like to try yours?"
