Fred: "Oh you know, 'what're ya in here for' or the classic showing of scars and tattoos." She held back a laugh at the thought of staying out of trouble. "Sure sure, whatever you say mum." She followed Alice up the stairs, skipping steps to catch up. "Lots of stairs here, hm?" She adjusted her hat as she started seeing light. "Yep, I'm sixteen forever. Wonderful right? Luckily it only comes with the perks and not the raging hormones. Betcha can't guess why!" After finally catching up to the taller girl, she turned so she could stroll backwards, hands behind her head. "And I think you know exactly what I'm implying, my feathered friend!"

(Going to start assuming they're still on the stairs if that's okay!!!)
Alice: She bit her lip, now smiling. Ahead of Fred, she was careful to walk with dignity and precision. Almost there. She reached the top of the staircase, and turned to face Fred. The "Feathered friend" comment rang in her ears. Still smiling, she put a finger to her lips as a sign of secrecy, and, ever so eloquent, "Oh, we don't speak of that, I'm afraid." She opened the heavy door at the very top of the staircase and swung it open, revealing a darkening sky and wind that blew feathers straight out of Alice's hair. She walked outside and turned to Fred. The duo was now on the roof of the university, and stars started to appear in the sky. She put her hands behind her back in a school-teacher fashion. "Why, actually, may I take a guess?" She smiled, "You are certainty as blind as a bat, I'd say!" She took a step closer to Fred. As she spoke, her eyes flashed red for just a second, "I've brought you up here in case you try anything less than ladylike, Ms. Dhampir." She put a hand over her heart. "I will happily inform you how I figured this out, not to worry! To say you're sixteen forever is quite the giveaway, I'll admit, and true, full vampires will burn in sunlight, but a halfling only so much as gets bothered... But you know what really gave your cover away?" She squinted her eyes. "You smell like blood, and quite frankly, it's disgusting."

Fred: She put a finger on chin. "Oh? And why don't we?" She followed Alice onto the roof, taking in the dusk sky. A little higher up than she thought they'd be going, but a place to smoke was a place to smoke. She took out a lighter and lit the cigarette that had been hanging out of her mouth while they'd made their journey. Alice started talking again and she glanced over uninterested, that is until she said the "Ms. Dhampir" bit. So she wasn't a birdbrain after all. She chuckled at her own joke, half listening to how Alice deduced her species. It was charming really, her explaining it like Sherlock Holmes. Well it was, up to the part were she called her disgusting. She pulled the cigarette out of her mouth and blew smoke at Alice's face. "Disgusting yeah? Haven't been called that one in a while. But should you really be talking bird breath? You smell like roadkill and 'quite frankly"'-she mocked in a nasally voice- "it makes me want to puke. Good thing I have the stomach for you or we would've had a problem much earlier."

Alice: Unimpressed, she lowered her eyebrows. "If you're not careful, Ms. Bat, you might just get an eye pecked out." A few crows from nearby trees flew over and started to land on the roof, all around the duo. Alice sighed. "I can't believe you just waltzed right in here and was given a job." She crossed her arms and tilted her head. "For someone your age to have such a distorted concept of responsibility turns my stomach." She sighed. "You must have lived quite a long time to accumulate such a astounding criminal record..."
"...I hope you understand my own predicament, as a fellow Bird of the Night, I ask that you would kindly keep my identity secret. I don't know how things are run in your town..." Actually, she was starting to get the idea..."But in my own such a curse is not fancied. And if you only knew the responsibility that comes with it," Her eyes grew red again, "Then I'm sure you'd empathize with me." Her hands moved to her hips, "Do we have a deal, Dhampir? I keep your identity secret if you keep mine?"

Fred: "WoOoO, I'm so scared," she said, wiggling her fingers. Still, birds didn't take kindly to her kind, like most animals, and they made her a little more nervous than she liked. She felt her fangs grow a little and stood on guard, just in case Alice made good on her statement. She flashed one of them when she smiled at the thought of her record. "A hundred years, give or take. You get bored and then well, you can guess the rest."
"As for keeping secrets, I don't have any. I mean I'm from Halloween town, what do people expect me to be? A human?." She snorted and placed her cigarette back in her mouth, sucking in. "So why don't we try a different tactic hm?" She brought her other hand up and placed it on her cheek, making a thoughtful face. "Golly gee, you know what would be nice? Another wardrobe in my room! You wouldn't happen to have one would you? That would just be swell!" She swung her arm down on the last word to emphasize. Her face dropped and she glared at Alice. "And by the way, maybe it's you who has the distorted responsibility. I've learned to live for myself because no one else is going to."

(I COULD SEE YOU DOING THE "GOLLY GEE, YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE NICE?" LOLLLLL) Alice: She crossed one arm and placed the other on her temple. She felt like she was trying to negotiate with not only a terrorist, but a TEENAGE one, at that. She rubbed her temple and thought for a moment. True, very true, as a Halloween town resident she didn't have much to fear aside from her daily life...still. A whole wardrobe for her identity to be kept secret seemed so... hefty. She wondered if perhaps afterwords she could report it stolen, and get a new one? Ah yes, that would be lovely~. "Well, I suppose if you're SO set on a wardrobe, I could lend you mine. It's not like I have anything to store in it, anyway."
She raised an eyebrow. She did feel sorry for the dhampir girl, she had to admit. A hundred years or so of life requires much more pain than Alice would ever have to go through. Still, she had to be sure her identity is safe. Her primary goal was at stake if residents knew how to find her...She bit her lip. For now, she supposed she could get along with Fred, at an arm's length. She approached her, weary of cigarette smoke. She offered a hand. "Do we have a deal, then?"

Fred: She waited for Alice's answer, knowing she'd have a new wardrobe in a few seconds. That solved her storage problem, though it did create new one. Where was she going to fit it? They gave her such a small room compared to her pent hou- oh box of chocolates bird lady was answering her. "Wow, thanks pal! And in return I think I will keep your secret! I mean, what are friends for right?" She looked at Alice's hand and raised an eyebrow. "What, no blood pact?" The look on the other girl's face was priceless. She grabbed her hand and shook it roughly. "Deal."

Alice: She begrudgingly shook her hand and pulled her backs. Wiping it on her skirt, her face contorted. "As much as I'd LOVE to share your...heritage, I'm afraid that will have to seal our deal." She pushed some hair out of her face. "'Friends' is such a general term, I suppose." She turned and started back towards the door. "I still have much to get ready, so come by my room after your break. Thanksgiving hallway, last door on the left. Even you can't miss it!~" She smiled and winked, "The Thanksgiving Floor is three floors down."

Fred: "I'm sure I can find it teach," she answered. With a last toothy grin, Fred turned away from Alice and moved towards the edge of the roof. She heard the Thanksgiving teacher leave and dropped her cigarette, crushing it under her foot. At least things won't be too boring here, she thought before jumping off the roof. A bat appeared in her place as she flew back over the building and into the now night sky.
